The Dance Department at Reagan is the largest dance program in Forsyth County. With over 300 students in the program, we are proud to teach that every body is a dancer. Students come to us with a range of experience, but they perform together at our concerts through the year. We have three separate concerts - fall, winter, and spring. Our department is so blessed to have 3 show nights for each concert because of the support from our school and community. The Reagan Dance Department has a student leadership team created from members of our chapter of NHSDA. Our studio was renovated in 2019 with new flooring and professional murals for dancers to have a beautiful space to learn and rehearse in. In class dancers learn a variety of styles of dance ranging from contemporary, jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop, and more. More than all of these things, we pride ourselves on being a community full of love, encouragement, and caring for people even more than dance.

Our Class Levels

  • Dance Collective - Course label: Dance (BEG)
This class is for students who are in their first year at Reagan in the Dance Department. Regardless of previous dance experience, all students start in this level. We focus on strength, coordination, technique, alignment, and performance. Our goals for students in this class are to have fun, find their love of dance and performing, and make positive relationships.
  • Dance Ensemble - Course label: Dance (INT)
Students in this level have completed Dance Collective and are at least in their second year of the department. This course has a heavy focus on technique with an emphasis on developing choreography skills. Our goals for students in this class are to have fun, build their skills and technique, become more confident choreographers, and feel connected to the Dance Department community.
  • Dance Company - Course label: Dance HN (PROF) or Dance HN (ADV)
This class is only for juniors and seniors in their third or fourth year in the department. This class focuses heavily on choreography as students create pieces for the Company Concert towards the end of third quarter. Fourth year students in the department select music, choreograph, and teach the piece to classmates for the concert. Students in this class have a love for dance and the Reagan Dance Department. Our goals for them are to become more confident in who they are as both performing and creating artists, grow in their skills and technique, and to be leaders within our dance community.
